CONTEMPORARY CERAMICS

Katie Smith is a designer-maker based between South London and Birmingham, specialising in ceramics. Her practice focuses on creating ceramic vessels, using a research-through-practice approach to coil-build precarious organic-looking forms. Concepts of maximalism and ornate surfaces are central to her work. Smith has always been intrigued by textural and tactile objects, and an extensive body of glaze research enabled her to highlight such qualities in her ceramic work.
